So, you’ve worked your way through most of your Christmas gift list for friends and family. But, you’ve learned over the years there are always a few late additions to the list. Luckily, there are plenty of appealing last-minute Christmas gifts for the people in your life.

1. A Monogram Planter

This idea puts a unique twist on the gift of a beautiful plant. A planter of any size can have all of the initials or the initial of the recipient’s last name displayed on its front. The initials could be in an elegant font or surrounded by swirls and other embellishments.

This gift idea is especially fun because the planter can be reused with other types of plants. Just imagine how much more special a colourful African violet or flourishing Philodendron would be in a planter displaying the initials of your loved one!

2. Specialty Cupcakes

Who doesn’t like opening a beautiful box to find a supply of delectable cupcakes? Answer: Nobody! This is a gift you can order from a professional baker and have sent to the recipient. Think about the recipient’s favourite colours and flavours when choosing your cupcake gift.

Alternatively, you could make the cupcakes yourself. Consider going with a traditional yellow cupcake along with vanilla frosting and decorate them in a unique fashion. Shredded white or dark chocolate, sprinkles, raspberries or strawberries are all ideas for decorating. Packing them in a shiny box with gold or silver ribbon would make this edible gift even more memorable.

3. A Wrapped Bottle of Wine

A friend or loved one who is a wine lover will appreciate a favourite bottle for Christmas. Why not make this last-minute gift more unique by wrapping it? You can use traditional wrapping paper and a ribbon. Or, put it in a decorative gift bag sturdy enough to handle a wine bottle.

4. Cookie in a Jar

This is one of those gifts that appeals to practically everyone. It’s a mason jar with the ingredients to make cookies layered inside it with baking instructions attached. A small benefit of giving this gift is it is already appealing with its layered chocolate chips, oatmeal, sugar, etc. You don’t have to wrap it!

Mason jars are available in many stores and, of course, the ingredients for your cookies will be at any grocery store. A handwritten card featuring your recipe and Christmas wishes would be a nice touch.

5. A Unique Case for a Kindle

This is a great gift because so many people have Kindles these days. Not only does this case offer protection for the gift recipient’s Kindle, but it also expresses their love of books.

Choose a Kindle cover designed to look like a classic book. There are several to choose from so you’re sure to find one that would appeal to your loved one. Make sure the cover is compatible with the Kindle model belonging to the recipient.

6. A Spa Gift Card

A spa gift card is an excellent last-minute gift because the recipient can use it whenever he or she wants to. The person can choose a spa service such as a facial, massage, manicure, pedicure or all of the above. A spa day is something they can look forward to long after the holidays! As a note, it’s helpful to look at a few spas located near the person’s home to find the most convenient one.

7. Tin of Popcorn

Most people probably don’t treat themselves to a tin of popcorn, making this last-minute gift a welcome surprise. Tins are available in various sizes containing different varieties of popcorn such as caramel, cheese, spicy and others.

The recipient can share this gift with family or keep it all to themselves. Of course, the decorative tin can be used to store other items after the last kernel of popcorn is gone. Your last-minute gift will be around for years to come.

8. A Travel Mug

If you have a friend or loved one who always seems to have a cup of coffee with them, get the person a sturdy travel mug. A mug with their initials on it or a fun design would make it more special.

9. An Attractive Tea Kettle

A friend who loves to drink tea would remember you every time he or she pours from the colourful tea kettle on their stove. Think about the colour of your friend’s kitchen before making the purchase. If you’re buying for someone and don’t know the colour of their kitchen’s décor, go with a traditional favourite in stainless steel.

As you see, a gift purchased last-minute for a friend can be just as thoughtful as one bought a whole month before Christmas.
