16 Super School Options In and Around Calgary Featured ImageFor any young family with children, one of the most important decisions you’ll face is where to send the young ones to school. Fortunately, Calgary has a lot of great options when it comes to schools, so how do you know which area has the best schools for you?

Let’s take a look at some of the schooling options in the communities we build in.

Savanna

Savanna is located in the Saddle Ridge community. This is a great area for families with very young kids, as here you’ll find the aptly-named Saddle Ridge School and Hugh A. Bennett, both K-4 schools that offer a wide range of education options to choose from.

In this community you’ll also find Peter Loughheed School which teaches grades 5-9, Colonel Macleod (grades 7-9) and for older kids there’s Nelson Mandela High School, which teaches grades 10-12.

Drake Landing Okotoks

In Okotoks, located just to the south of Calgary city centre, you’ll find a wide selection of schools that’ll meet almost any need, especially for families with very young children. Here you’ll have a choice of preschools, including Leap N Learn and Okotoks Preschool Academy.

Dr. Morris Gibson School teaches grades K-6 and there’s also a Catholic High School, Holy Trinity Academy.

The community of Walden, also south of Calgary but a little further north than Okotoks, has a full range of schools that’ll see your child all the way from Kindergarten through High School. For the younger children, there’s the K-6 Fish Creek School, and nearby is MidSun School for kids in grades 7-9 and then a few minutes away is Dr. E. P. Scarlett High School for grades 10-12.

In Walden, you’ll also have a choice of Catholic schools for families who’d prefer to have a faith-based education. St. Sebastian School teaches grade K-6, and St. Matthew School teaches both K-9 in English and grades 7-9 in French Immersion.

These choices make Walden a perfect community for first-time buyers and families with either very young kids or those planning to have kids soon. Ideally, once you buy a house you’ll want to stay there for a long time, and this selection of schools ensures that you’ll be able to stay throughout their whole education.

Wedderburn

Wedderburn is a neighbourhood that’s still expanding, which means you have a great opportunity to get in early! Meadow Ridge is a K-9 school that just opened in the fall of 2019, so this is the perfect time to get the kids into a brand-new school with all the latest facilities.
